We always hear from moms saying I don’t have time to sleep/eat/bath/relax/go shopping etc etc. and I swear they are not lying because while I’m writing this I have to go and attend my daughter and clean her mess, also it took about 1 month to write this blog and its an achievement for me yeeee!
There are many things that the 21st century has made easier for us. Not everything though…for example there are so many opportunities to take advantage of, hundreds of tech gadgets that are suppose to make life easier, but lifestyle and having kids often backfires us and make things much harder.
So my kinda mom tips are:
Write a List – Keep a Phone / Diary / Note Book
Writing down your ideas, TO-DO list and forgotten tasks in a note book can be a powerful tool in dealing with distractions plus you will never skip any task unless you yourself want to skip due to your muchkin 😉 I use my phone for this or I message my husband so that if I forget he can remind me and we also make sticky notes in our house. There are so many smart phones these days with notepad and reminder options and they have made our work easy as well as made our life dependent on them.
Plan My Days in Advance
Knowing what we’re doing each day/week keeps me organized and helps work done. So I always try taking 10 minutes out every morning or at night before and plan my day and task to be completed. You can use tools like Google calendar and schedule things as per day. You can also plan your week in advance if days are sorted like which day of the week you will go for grocery shopping and which day is free for friends to come over and have meet up or you can take the baby out and meet them nearby. I usually keep grocery shopping to weekends as my hubby helps with that and whole week I clean the house by giving some 20-30 min everyday so I am not left with junkyard on weekends :p as I am cleanliness freak person it helps me.
Why its effective?
Because our brain is not able to maintain concentration for more than 1-2 hours depends on person to person so piling things up will not give you clear picture for the day/week and you end up being in mess.
3. Use technology to my advantage
It’s a boon you are mom in 21st century. I know we have tons of work to do apart from being mommy to little munchkins. Don’t worry use technology for your betterment and download apps which can help your work as new moms you can use apps which keep track of nappy change times and feeding session reminders if you want to, I never used that as didn’t feel any requirement for it but every child and every mom is different. So please go ahead and use such apps if you need to. With technology you have banks at your figure prints. I always do my banking on phone and most of the time do shopping online as I don’t get time to roam around in malls or shops with my girl. For bare minimum necessities of baby like diapers/bottles/wipes all I get it online. Pay your bills online as all the companies have this facility now. Use use and use and save TIME.
4. Delegate
Don’t be shy to delegate some work to others as you are a MOM and have hundred other task in hand of your baby. It will not only reduce your burden but will also relive your stress level and you can concentrate on your baby fulltime. For me I just hate cooking but definitely I love to eat hahaha! So I have kept help at home for cooking or my husband does it whenever he gets time from his work. He also does some washing of clothes for baby in morning so I can take care of baby’s breakfast/milk/bath, cleaning the house etc.
Accept help
There are very few who will offer you help being a new mom, I would say just accept it. You are not God so you will require help and it will reduce your stress. Accept help from your husband/family members for diaper/nappy change of baby also if someone can hold your baby and take him/her for a walk so that you can get some time alone (some meee time).
Take time to relax/unwind
Your brain needs rest and your body too. Indulge in activities that relax your mind and soul it can be anything from reading a book, going on long drive, playing a game, exercise, yoga, painting, dancing, watching some videos or just surfing on internet. Once you are charged you can bounce back to parenting happily. You can even try short family trips with your baby around keeping weather in mind so that baby is not affected much
Plan baby meals in advance
Cooking can be so monotonous and tiring too. (atleast for me it is :p). You have your family meals to cook and baby meals separately is headache, its easier to plan baby meals in advance for a week or lets start with just 2 days in advance and life will become much more smoother. Even for toddlers if you are cooking separately you can try planning in advance.
